 Calling all recordings experts

I really want to find a CD and am having no luck...

I used to have a CD from (I believe) ProArte of American music excerpts -- Star-Spangled Banner, American Salute, Stars and Stripes Forever, stuff like that, all played by American orchestras. What I especially miss are two Copland excerpts played by the Houston Symphony under Commissiona -- "Hoedown" and the Shaker variations from "Appalachian Spring."

I lent this CD to a woman I was dating years ago, and it's one of the things I wasn't able to get back when we called it quits.

It was one of those cheapo $4.99 classical CD's you'd find at Office Depot and places like that near the checkout counter.

If any of you whiz kids who are great at hunting down ASIN numbers can help, I'll be ever grateful.g

GBK,

Thanks, but that's not it -- it definitely had the two Copland pieces I mentioned. I miss it because the clarinet solo in the Shaker piece is the sweetest I've ever heard, but it's been so many years that I'm wondering if it's really as good as I remember.

You came across that one the same time I did. It's not the exact same disc, but the recordings may be the same. Lots of familiar tracks there. The one I had was just a single disc with maybe 10-12 tracks.

I could swear, though, the Shaker Hymn was done by Houston... I could just be remembering it wrong... can't tell from the sound clip, wish they'd have included the opening solo...

Many thanks!.

Ralph, I think I have the disc to which you refer. It isn't in front of me right now so I can't say for sure. Email me directly and I'll see what info I can provide.
