In looking up prices for Buffet R-13s, I noticed the Brook Mays website has the new Limite' model Buffet. Many changes have taken place in the last couple of years in the Buffet production dept., so I'm wondering if any of you have tried out the Limite'.

Brenda ... when fishing I always find it good to cast one's net far and wide ...
Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

Fishing is ok, but very time consuming. I'm specifically interested in finding out about this particular model. My question is if anyone has tried it. If so, how does it compare to the R-13 and other Buffet models.

Brenda, sorry I can't help with your questions, but Buffets are not one of my big interests. Just jumped in to say it's good to see you, and I'm sure it will be worthwhile for you to contribute to the board once again.
I'm still sold on the V-40, your suggestion.
Also sorry this interrupts the thread, but I don't have your current email address.
Hope all is well with you.
Regards,
John

Thanks John. The V40 is one of the better resonite models. If I were selecting the best student model off the shelves of the music stores, I would go with the Ridenour. But, a good V40 is a great little clarinet. It's especially good for marching band and outdoor play.
I've been helping with my elderly parents and mother-in-law the last 3 years. My mother passed away last week and my mother-in-law a couple of years ago. My dad is surviving ok, but he's pretty healthy now. So, I'm getting back into things I enjoy--music is tops on the list. If I can just get my lip back in shape and my fingers moving again I'll be ok.
Smiles.

"If I can just get my lip back in shape and my fingers moving again I'll be ok".
That is my constant concern everytime I assemble my instrument(s), and not just after some "time off". Good to hear from you again !>)

Reminds me of a line from the old "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids" cartoon:
(some character to guitar-playing Rudy): "There's only two things wrong with your playing -- your hands."

Brenda,
I spoke with some reps from Brook Mays at the OU clarinet symposium. They told me that the limite' is an R-13 body with E-12 keywork, and that it was a model that they were making for local music stores to sell to their local customers.... I am not sure if that is true, it was not Buffet who spoke to its qualities.
Best,
Graham

In one case it was the arrival of Francois Kloc in the USA and "Platinum Service" - the clarinets coming into the USA were generally in deplorable state of setup and factory service was essentially non-existent.
It was via a complaint to Buffet that I ended up hearing directly from Francois and ended up travelling to Chicago (formerly the Buffet distribution headquarters) to meet with him and get my son's clarinet fixed. From what I understand before Francois' arrival that kind of thing - personal service by one of the finest techs - was rare or non-existent.

Weren't there some changes with ownership of the company as well? Seems like that was happening about the time I had to put my clarinet aside to care for my parents and mother-in-law. Several people on the board were concerned about what would happen to the clarinet line if the company sold out. Apparently, it's still running at full steam.
Oh, about my old email address (clarinetgrammy@cswebmail.com)--I had to abandon it because of all the spam. So, if you want me to contact you, contact Mark and he'll forward it to me and I'll reply. Just don't want any more of that awful gunk I got when my email address was so public.

Is it now the Music Grooup Corp. that owns Buffet? Who knows...it seems since Boosey and Hawkes unloaded Buffet quality has been quite variable.
here is Winkipedia...apparently Buffet is now owned buy a private firm in France

My question is more rheotorical in nature..
Music Group unloaded Buffet Crampon et Cie. almost as quickly as it aquired it.
Buffet certainly does not respond to any pulic inquiries by email as to problems with clarinets or or questions about their products. I would hasten to add that Mark's son is one of the very priviledged few to have has such special service.
