I have a wood clarinet marked: "Mono Pole Conservatories, Quesnon.S.A. Paris, Serial Number 28569". Probably a small France mfgr. Would like to find any info on this. I am told that the mfg is probably Quesnon.S.A. and made in 1940-50 range. But source was unsure as thought Quesnon was also a Trumpet maker. Help.....

Cousenon Monopole - I have #15239, bought on eBay for $50 and cost me new cork & pads. A reasonably good clarinet; I'd rank it as equivalent to today's average intermediates.

After taking a closer look, the mouth piece also has a stamp that is: A. Perier. I noticed that the other replies mentioned a A. Fontaine.. Are the these individual mfrs?.

Melody,
If I didn't have to repad & recork the clarinet $120.00 would've been a fair price. No way is it worth $800.00 (meaning you couldn't sell it for $800) except for possibly insurance purposes - and they frown on highly inflated prices.

Mouthpieces are changed out all the time; I wouldn't count on any of the mouthpieces being OEM.

Mark,
All I can say is that I had it appraised 2 different times. Both parties willing to pay or trade in for store credit. It still has the original case (in good condition), and all parts including mouth piece have the same serial numbers, mono pole stamping etc. It is in great condition. I bought it at an antique store from an estate sale 4 years ago. Although I don't intend to sell or trade, I have insured it.

Melody - I'd sell it if I were you, buy a few more off of ebay, sell those, etc. They're good, but for $800 and luck I can get an R13 or Selmer 10G.
