just listening to a good recording
the Trios by Milhaud, Bartok, Stravinsky and Khachaturian (all discussed on this board before) performed by "ensemble incanto" with clarinet player Ralph Manno.
It can be tricky to find good recordings of some of these works- and here they are all played on one CD.... Arte Nova 74321 72105 2 (budget priced too!)
i just listened to the Khachaturian and the start of the Bartok.... not exactly how i'd play it, but really good chamber music nonetheless. One thing you can say about Ralph Manno, he's never boring. Hey, a really moment just happened in the Soldiers tale... these guys play well together.

And where did you find this? Because I'm not seeing it on Amazon.

Arte Nova is a "budget label" based in Germany- but don't be fooled, many of their recordings have great performances and production. Ralph Manno has recorded quite a few CDs for them- his Brahms quintet is very good, some of his other CDs i'm less enthusiastic about- but they're still "not bad" by any definition.... His Brahms sonatas got rave reviews, but there are a few interpretation issues there...
these CDs are available internationally- Amazon Europe will certainly have them, or maybe you could just order them (the old fasioned way) from the local audiophile/Classical CD shop, this will take longer but you will be dealing with a human.
do a google search for Ralph Manno or Arte Nova- i've seen AN Cds in Germany, England, Italy, NZ but admitedly not in the US. Maybe they don't have US distribution....That's never stopped Amazon before though...
