1906 Buffet

I'm new to this board, and to the business of clarinet restoration, so HI !
I recently bought a 1906 Buffet Crampon to restore off ebay and find that the upper tenon and barrel are HP (high pitch) and the lower tenon and bell are LP (low pitch). Any thoughts ? I also bought whats turning out to be a wonderful Henry Gunckel "C" on the same auction, and am wondering if there is any way to date it. Thanks !

Are the serial numbers readable and do they match? Are you sure both they are different? I have a clarinet from that era and the LP is almost unreadable. If yours is like mine, I could see how it could be misread. Also I don't recall the bottom joint of my clarinet having a LP on the bottom joint. But since I haven't seen it in a while, I could be mistaken.

If it truly is both HP and LP, all I can think of is to find their proper mates.

Also, just out of curiosity, what is the serial number of this clarinet?

Hi Dave...The upper serial # is either 1X or 1Y, and the lower is clearly Y744, I haven't started any work on this one yet, and wondered if a high and a low pitch combined could even work.

I just remembered why I didn't see a serial number on both the top and bottom.......mine has a one piece body. I don't see how your combo could possibly work. Good luck!
