 Clarinet concert tonight

Hi,
Just wanted to tell you about an interesting concert I will go to tonight. I hope I can get tickets. It's a piece for 3 clarinets (and orchestra) written by Israeli composer and song writer Shlomo Gronich. It's about the 3 expressions of the clarinet. Classical (solo by Philippe Cuper), folk/klezmer (Giora Feidman) and Jazz (Eddie Daniels).
I think it should be very good.

Wow!

And where is this concert taking place? Afterwards, let us know what you thought of these great clarinetists.

I just woke up now, but I had to write about it. It wasn't exactly how I descrived it. They played many more pieces, not just the one by Gronich. Actually the main piece by Gronich wasn't really good. That was the downside of the evening, the compostions weren't great. There was a piece for 12 clarinets + 2 bass clarinets which is an interesting ensemble but again the composition was very unoriginal and a little boring. The players were good enough to compensate no doubt. Also they were about 20 clarinetists. About 10 Israeli ones and 10 more german ones.
Giora Feidman has a really weird plasticy sound (best way I can think of to describe it, and it's the first time I hear him play). I wasn't crazy about him really.
Phillippe Cuper was absolutely amazing! My favorite classical clarinet player was Sharon Kam. Phillipe Cuper wasn't as technically flawless (although of course his technique is great), and I still like Sharon Kam, but Cuper plays just more alive. His technique is also absolutely phenomenal but he had a few insignificant mistakes (which only make him more human). He has a very frenchy sound which I love and the pieces he chose to play were great. He played this piece that he suddenly took the bell off. Everyone was surptrised. Then after a while he took the lower joint off, then the upper joint, then the barrel, and the last few notes were just with the mouthpiece.
He is also so charismatic and plays to the audience.
Eddie Daniels was just unbelievable. I listened to about 3 CDs by him and he was always good but not great. Yesterday he still had the same sound with this little kichy vibrato which I don't like. That all doesn't really matter because what he played was amazing. He played 2 jazz standards (and not really good ones) but his improvisation is nothing I would imagine possible. His technique is really perfect. Every note he plays it's like it's the most important note for him. Eventhough the rythm section wasn't so good (bass player was good, piano player was ok, drummer was barely ok) Eddie Daniels played like he has the best rythm section in the world. I like him much more now than before.
There is so much more I can write about this concert but my fingers will get tired if I do. I hope everyone will have he chance to see something like this.
Thanks.

Sounds like Cuper must've played Immer Kleinen. I'd sure like to hear a recording of it at some point.

Where was this concert held?

Answered my own question via Google...

This performance was at the Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center and was put together by Feidman. There was a nice article in the Jerusalem Post, but I couldn't figure out how to get a link here.

Try Googling "Feidman+Cuper+Daniels+Clarinet" and it should come up.
