I was thinking more in terms of 4-6 weeks. Its more of a vacation for me.

With regards to your comment about standard US players... I think clarinet playing style has certainly changed alot and the different schools are becoming more uniformed now. Plus, why would you want to follow the "standard" sound?? I personally believe you develop your own sound. I mean you can learn about focus, tongue positions, airplacement...and perhaps instrument and mp would make a difference...but it all comes down to the make up of your oral cavity and your body. Drucker and Neidich are VERY fine players...I mean there are others around who are just as good...but they're not in New York. Drucker's sound is very different to Neidich's sound and I like qualities in both so I can probably learn about that from them.... not to mention their musicality!!!!!...well they convince me anyway.

Ultimately the music has to come first. Thats when I really envy Drucker and Neidich. Its always music to them and their playing is not technically driven at all....instead its guided by the music....(for example..tone colours in Drucker's playing). I think thats the true gauge of a good clarinetist. Not who can play the fastest, with the nicest tone and the least mistakes.

In Japan, there are some people, daughters from rich families, who get instructions from famous artists and in reality they get nothing. Someone told Drucker or Neidich is like God. Nonsense! The real teacher is ourselves.
