 Sheet Music

Hello everybody:

My daughter is entering her fourth year as a clarinet player. I am looking for some solo clarinet sheet music. The type that fine tunes a clarinet player with his/her music. I'm also looking for some jazz pieces. Does anyone know where there is some that can be downloaded or printed for free? Please email me if you know of any. We just want to fine tune her skills further.

I'd recommend getting her a good teacher. The teacher should have some good advice for music.

Kimi, books like the Rubank Concert & Contest Collection, Klose Complete Method and the Rose Etudes just aren't that expensive and can be found at just about any music store. Kalmus editions of the major solo works are also relatively cheap. You could spend $100 and buy your daughter more essential clarinet music than she could work through in the next four years. She's worth it, isn't she?

Kimi,

I'm glad to hear that you are supportive of your daughter's improvement, but I will have to agree with Alex. Buying and having music is great, but just having the music to work on, while giving her something different and maybe more exciting to do, will not necessarily "fine tune" her as a player. Spending money on a private instructor would be much more worthwhile. Then, the private teacher could evaluate her and let you know exactly what music would be appropriate for her needs. May I ask the region or area in which you live? If anyone on the board knows someone in your area, I'm sure we would be happy to recommend an instructor.

Yup - get a private teacher even if it's every other week. That person will guide to appropriate music and give dirrection as well.

Copyright infringement makes it pretty tricky to download sheet music off the net, too......
