Which movement has the Bass Clarinet solo I keep hearing about? Is it just in the orchestral arrangement, or the band arrangement too? Also, are there any other pieces for concert band that have solos for bass clarinet? I know of Blue Shades by Ticheli, but I want more! Thanks!

If i remember rightly Shostakovich 8 has a major solo in the 4th movt, 6 has a Eb solo in the 2nd movt, it's very hairy remember learning it for a London Symphony Orchestra audition

Shosty 6 has a very long, slow first movement, with the bass clarinet solo towards the end. Following shortly thereafter is the scherzo-ish 2nd movement with the aforementioned Eb solo.

The 2nd mvt of no. 6 begins with the E flat solo, but later the bass clari has the same theme with the flute (or piccolo) playing it in inversion at the same time. Interesting colour!
