I'm going to Europe next month. Are there any sheet music stores or anything else of interest for a clarinetist in these cities? (Would it be considered self-promotion if I mention that I'll be performing in the Concertgebouw?)

there's a fantastic sheet music store right near the Concertgebouw at Van Baerlerstraat 92: Broekmans and Van Poppel.
they have a great website too: http://www.broekmans.com/en/about.cfm

In Munich (where I shamelessly mention that I was playing at the Gasteig) I greatly enjoyed Max Heiber in Liebfrauenstrasse just a block or two from Marienplatz. This would've been in late 1999.
There are two locations in close proximity, I think The one that had interesting sheet music said "Bauer & Heiber" in the window. It was located in the Rathaus and the best shopping was in the basement.

Sidenote: When I was over there, the only German history that I knew was WWII, so I spent much of my 5 free hours in Munich trying to find the site of the Beer Hall Putch. (a subject that the locals are NOT anxious to address) In my haste to get from Heiber (and from the Hofbrauhaus) over to the Gasteig, I inadvertently walked much of the marchers' route backwards. Only after returning to the US did I find that the Gasteig was located on or next to the site of the Buergerbraukeller which had been destroyed in 1939. (according to a travel guide, the Hilton hotel at Rosenheimerplatz now stands next to the site)
