Can anyone help me locate some online fingering charts for the altissimo register? I'm trying to get my high F and above better in tune, and I need one that goes up to al least double high C, but also has alternate fingerings. Thanks!

Thanks for the help. Ralph, your link REALLY helps! Eddy, I looked at the fingering guide on here, but it didn't have the alternate fingerings I needed. Also, I guess I'm not sure how to use the archives so if anyone wants to give me a quick ArchivesForDummies class on here, I'd be very greatful! :0)

Tim Reichard's site : http://www.wfg.woodwind.org/, which I've contributed many fingerings to, is excellent, but a work in progress.
However - be aware that there are still some mistakes and fingerings which need to be corrected.
This is being fixed as errors are pointed out to him. Tim also welcomes additional submissions ...GBK

GBK ... clarinet fingerings (especially in the altissimo) are very subjective, really ... don't you think? Almost limitless in their possibilities ... especially when you consider most clarinest are ever so slightly different in how they react to forkings - what's your opinion, GBK?

Whenever there are a number of good, viable alternatives for altissimo fingerings, your specific choice ALWAYS depends on:
1. intonation
2. response
3. fingering practicality
4. the note(s) before the specific fingering
5. the note(s) after the specific fingering
6. the matching of tone color to the surrounding notes, if applicable
Thus, there is never just one "set it and forget it" fingering for the notes from F6 and above ...GBK

I consider Tom Ridenour's "Clarinet Fingerings" (widely available) indispensable. Not only does it list numerous altissimo alternatives, it gives the usual alternative characteristics of each for an R13 (e.g., slightly flat, good in soft attacks, secure in wide leaps, etc.) as suggestions for which one to use in some important solo pieces.

Another issue to consider when figuring out your fingerings, especially "alternate" fingerings and fingerings in the altissimo register, is the type of clarinet and set-up.
Kalmen Opperman and I have been working on a new fingering book for clarinet. Most of the fingerings we figured out would work on both of our Buffet R-13s (with Opperman mouthpieces and barrels) AND my large bore Rossi, but quite a few of the fingerings would only work on either the Buffet OR the Rossi. There were also some fingerings that were player specific (either Mr. Opperman could make them work or I could, but not both of us, regardless of horn type).
