 Eb Clarinet Music

Hello!

Could you recommend some music for Eb Sop ? I know it sounds nuts, but I would love to do a piece, but I have only been able to find a couple of listings.

Something like a concerto, sonata, etc would be great. I deal a whole lot better with more traditional music- Sutermeister and Hindemith is about as modern as I get... :)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jo

Hindemith is about as modern as you get? Why he's closer to Bach than Stockhausen ...

Not sure about solo repertoire for the little devil but will do some research.

Yeah, I was never the fan of the 12 tone music and whatnot. Although, I went to see a Schoenberg Opera- 3.5+ hours of twelve tone music in hebrew... After 45 minutes, I was kind of numb... :)

Easley Blackwood's Sonatina for Eb and piano is a really great piece.

I just picked up the Bolcom recently, and I heartily second that recommendation. It's a really neat little piece.

As far as modern, the second movement is a little "strange"--I haven't quite figured it out yet, but the other three are based on more popular tunes. The first is a Rag, the third a "Quasi-Waltz" (which I LOVE) and the fourth is a Soft-shoe type tune...

You might be able to play the Molter concertos on E flat; they are usually played on the D clarinet.

Sean Osborn - Clarinetist and Composer

Sonata for Eb Clarinet and Piano - 17 min.

An eclectic mixture of Celtic polyrhythms, avant-garde construction and "new age" sounds.
