I recently bought a Conn Bb clarinet on Ebay. It is in excellent condition except for the pads (no pins, cracks, or key wear). I was wondering if anyone knows about old Conn clarinets.
I tried looking up the serial number on several web sites and they say that the instrument was made between 1911-1912. I can't believe that it could be that old considering how good of condition it is in.
The serial number starts with the letter E and is in the 20,000's. The only other marking on it is the number 17, which I am guessing is some kind of model number.
I can't find any more info on this instrument. I would like to know if it is a professional model and whether you all think it is worth a total re-pad. I currently have an E11 Buffet, which I played on in college. I don't play much any more, but love instruments.
I didn't even know that Conn made woodwinds, however I've found a lot out about clarinets that I never knew until reading this board! And I thought I was pretty knowledgable. Thanks for any help!

The Conn saxophones were held in high regard (and still by some) especially the Conn 6M and 10M.
