Hi! Would anyone know the maker of an old looking metal (silver?) clarinet with a "victory" stamp on the bell and a number 1909 on the top? I just got it today. Would like to restore it and learn to play!! Is it too old to fix? Would it still sound good? Thank you so much for any info!

If it has its barrel and most of its keys, marika, it's not too late to try your hand at restoring and playing it. All the metals I've restored sound like... clarinets!

You rang my Bell, I also have [see] a Victory, ser.# 31397 [I believe, it is poorly stencilled in]. As Ron points out re: barrels, mine, having a different [dull, not shiny] barrel, is not restored. I display it for the educational amazement of "newbies" for whom I may do a bit of repair/familiarizing with some cl history. Jim Lande has put into our archives a long list of metals with what info he has gathered, I'm sure "our" Victorys are listed. Don
Thanx, Mark, Don
