I had the opportunity the other night to hear the New York Philharmonic at Ravina. It was a great concert all in all, but IMO Stanley Drucker stole the show!! I have never been a huge fan of his, although I have always admired his technique and am impressed by his long tenure in the Philharmonic. The program began with Fingal's Cave. Drucker's solo at the end was truly inspiring and absolutly beautiful. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to hear him before he retires.

This one also requites a very good 2cd clarinetist as well to totally come off...did this piece this season. Lots of fun...I am sure he was expressive as well...Drucker has always been one of my favorite players...

You can always count on Drucker to give 110%. He still plays like he loves every minute of it. He is always inspired and truly a major force on the clarinet. Which is something to say with a career like his.

Hmmm, I wasn't there, but I was at Ravinia on the 18th when Eshenbach was conducting the CSO to Shostakovich, Dvorak, and Beethoven.
