Has anyone had any experience playing the following mouthpieces;
a Lomax Classsic E model ( 2 or 3) , and/or the
Clark W. Fobes San Francicso Model- Personal Facing.
The clarinet is a Buffet R13.

I currently have been playing on a Fobes San Francisco CF+ facing. This is just slightly more open than the CF. Clark makes great mouthpieces. They are top notch in all respects. It plays very comfortably, articulates and responds beautifully and tunes very well. It produces a nice full sound. It is also very reed friendly. I would recommend it very highly.
Clark is great to deal with. He is probably one of the most knowledgeable people out there. He really understands the mechanics and acoustics of the clarinet. All of his products are superb.

I just received some Fobes CF mouthpieces. I like them and am going to purchase two. Same impressions as above. Very pleased.

I like the Fobes SF CF - Personal Facing very much with my R-13. My husband also likes it with his Yamaha 6xx -- in fact, we fight over who gets to use it.
Interestingly enough, I do not like the Fobes with my recently-acquired LeBlanc Opus (original Opus, not Opus II). On that instrument it produces (I produce?) a sound which is not focused enough for my taste -- which is a little odd, I think, because in general I find the Opus makes a MORE focused (whatever that means -- less complex? "purer"? fewer lower/more higher partials?) sound than the R-13.
I haven't settled on a "preferred" mpc for the Opus. Anyone have any ideas? I need something relatively easy to blow, responsive and stable.

I tried Lomax mouthpieces for the first time at the ClarinetFest this past week and I liked them a lot. The most impressive aspect for me personally was the wide range of the mouthpieces that Lomax offers. It doesn't matter if you like open or closed, you will find a mouthpiece that suits you. I personally prefer more closed opening so I went with a2 e3 and c11. THe mouthpieces that I tried have the flexibility, gorgeous sound and an appropriate projection. Another impressive thing was how involved and receptive were Michael and Joel Lomax to costumers' requests. I saw two players completely different in style and sound concept walk away (after spending some time with Michael Lomax, who adjusted the mouthpiece to their liking) from the stand with mouthpieces that fully satisfied their needs and expectations.
I personally give my vote of confidence for Lomax.
