I would like to ask if anyone can suggest any good books, or any other information source on the subject of repadding, adjusting and repairing clarinets. Also I have recently purchased a Chandler metal clarinet and I am finding it hard obtaining any information on it. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
-=[Joe Vacc]=-

"The Clarinet and Clarinet Playing", Robert Willaman, pr. by Carl Fischer, while old and out of print, [it may be available via library loan], has quite a bit of good repair advice including some for metal cls !! Keith Stein's booklet may be of some help, its available from Amazon.com. Ask a friendly repair person and maybe take a few lessons! I'm sure others will help also. Luck, Don

There is a book by Clayton H. Tiede titled "Practical Band Instrument Repair Manual" Wm C. Brown, pub. I don't know if it is still in print, but gives a good basic outline for you to get a start. It is not complete by any means, but is written well and easy to understand by the novice.

Rick2 -
Just to clarify - Ferre's is listed on the pages along with many other companies, but they provide no financial support for Sneezy.
Those places listed in the Retail section with <b>bold</b> font and a <img src="/clarinet/images/notes.gif" alt="Notes"> are financial contributors ($50.00/yr - I'm not getting rich over here :^) Any other money and labor required to keep Sneezy up & running comes from me - I maintain Web sites for the I.C.A. and ClarinetFest, and much of that money gets plowed back into Sneezy.
Ask your local retailers if they'd like to support the site - it's cheap, and I think a pretty good prospect for their advertising dollars, along with a place to put a small Website (it's included in the $50.00)
I also welcome anyone wishing to set up their own Web site (there's a teacher who keep his schedule on-line) - same price. Sorry I can't make it cheaper for personal use, but it takes a bit of work just to set up a site & do the billings, along with the tax preparation at the beginning of each year.

Thank-you for correcting me. I certainly give credit where it isn't due.
