Voxman's Classical Studies for Clarinet (Bach works)
Author: VCMM

For those with Voxman's Classical Studies for Clarinet...

I see that this book has excerpts of Bach solo string works. Can someone who has the book confirm whether or not the excerpt of partita #2 in d minor for violin has the famous chaconne?

Thanks.

No Chaconne. Just the Allemande, Gigue and Courante...GBK

With due respect, the Chaconne just would not work on the clarinet. It is an exercise/study/embellishment in the use of string crossing over 3 or 4 note chords. Bach was himself a very gifted violinist (as well as organist and harpsichordist). As a string player, also, I've played a transcription for this work for viola ... it's lovely stuff, and damned difficult.
