Hi.. My name is Bob Campbell.. I just acquired a VERY Vintage Selmer SILVER Clarinet from a friend in Australia.. Serial Number is # 3297.. Depose Model.. Henri Selmer.. France.. CAN ANYONE OUT THERE IN Clarinet land tell me how to research this instrument.. you know, date made? approximate value? it is really an interesting Woodwind.. in very good shape for the age.. I need to have the pads redone and a couple of springs are missing.. other than that I am dying to get it in playing shape to hear what it sounds like.. THANKS in advance for any help you folks can give.. Bob

Our "resident" expert on metal [and other!] clarinets is Jim Lande. Sometime back he put into our archives, a "laundry" list of metal cls, which you prob. can find with a bit of search. You also can prob. find his E-M address. Believing your cl might be one of the better metals, he [and a few more of us] will prob. be glad to discuss. Luck, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

There's a Selmer catalog from the 30's floating aroung on the web (I think it has been referenced in this BB, so you can probably find it it the archives). I remember seeing descriptions of the Selmer (Paris) metal clarinets in it.

These Silver clarinets usually command a very good price by collectors. Your are very fortunate indeed.
