"the Shining" was on one of our free-to-air broadcasters last night, a movie I'd not seen since the 80s (early 70s). I watched about half and then went to bed. I noticed a predominant part for a contra clarinet ... couldn't tell if it was a contra-alto or contra-bass.
Anyone played in this music recording that posts here? I'm thinking one of the New Yorkers who post.

Hi diz:
I may have mentioned in an earlier post;
I did the clarinet, bass clarinet, and contra-alto clarinet solos on "Interview with a Vampire." It was a thriller out a few years ago, you can probably rent in now almost anywhere. Not a great flick, but interesting writing for the clarinet family!
Good luck,

John ... thanks, no - I resisted the temptation to see that particular Vampire movie. Maybe I should rent it on DVD and see if I can't pick up your silken tones?

diz, Paul Harvey wrote that one benefit of doing session work was that he could be home home at night, tucked up in front of the telly and watching homicidal maniacs and giant squid stalk their prey to the accompaniment of his contrabass clarinet!

thanks, Punk, unfortunately I'm not into those sorts of films ... maybe I'll have to flatten my horizon?
