hello, i have a really sad story. last week i had a rehersal for this concert i have today. i need both my Bb clarinet and my bass clarinet for it. this week i only practiced on my bass clarient becasuse i have an exam in 2 days on the bass. yesterday (saturday) i looked for my bag which had the Bb clarinet in it becasue i need it for the concert today (sunday). i couldn't find it so i started looking in all the places it could be. when i couldn't find it anywhere i started to panic and looked even in places there's no way it could be. i am 100% sure i brought it home from my rehersal (i guess i can't be 100% sure because it is not here) but i still went to my uni this morning ans asked if anyone found a clarinet and i put signs saying a clarinet was lost. no one found anything so maybe someone stole it. in the bag there was nothing that would interest a thief except the clarinet, and here it's not like in the usa. it's not that easy to sell such a clarinet without getting caught because there are maybe 2-3 (maybe even only 1) stores at the most that sell buffet clarinets, and that one was a R-13 prestige so if someone sells it very cheap it's pretty obvious it is stolen or at least something is suspicious. i am still sure i brought it back from the rehersal so i have no idea what i could have done with it. maybe someone accidently took the bag from my house instead of their bag or something i really don't know.
well, that is the sad story. if i don't find it i hope the insurance will allow me to buy a new one, but i really loved that clarinet... :(
hope everyone guards their instrument and don't let them out of their site. i learned my lesson now, and eventhough i specifically remember bringing it home with me, from now on i will never let any of my clarinets out of my site even for a second.

I feel for you, but hopefully the fact that it can't be sold anywhere (have you reported it stolen?) will allow you to get it back. I remember in junior high, our band director had bought 3 very nice Bass Clarinets for the section (Selmer, unsure of model, it's been too long and I didn't pay attention at the time), and whenever we went to contest or tryouts for various honor bands, we had 3 crappy cases to put them in, so while everyone else was carrying their instruments around, we just left them in the unlocked practice room because we knew no one would try to steal an instrument that was in a case falling apart. Perhaps when/if you get your instrument back (or a replacement) you might try the same thing? I have no doubt that if I left new instruments lying about as we did with those basses in their original cases, they probably would've been stolen as well!

Oh No!
That's horrible! I hope that your insurance will cover it. I also hope that you'll be able to find another horn that plays like your missing one. I can't say that I know what it's like losing a good horn, but I feel your pain. Good luck, and at least you still have your bass.

i can't believe it! i found it!!!
i've been worrying for 2 days for nothing. i simply forgot where i put it! i can't say i'm suprised that it happened to me. what happened is on tuesday i went to a friend's house and we played together. i don't know why but i just forgot i brought my clarinet there because i never used it, we both played on the piano instead. a few minutes ago i just thought really hard and tried to remember what happened all week long. i counted on myself that i have brought it home from the rehersal on sunday and then followed what happened later. i couldn't think of anything that happened on monday but i remembered that i went to a party at the uni on tuesday, and that i went to a friend's house before the party. then it suddenly came to me that i brought my clarinet there.
about the old case idea, that wouldn't have worked for me since if someone will steal my clarinet they would just take the bag without even looking what there is inside. anyway everything is ok now.

Excellent. Very happy for you, it's never good to lose an instrument, but especially one of that price!

Hooray! Glad you found it. I'm having more frequent mental lapses now that I'm 60+. We call them "senior moments" I still have a photographic memory, just no longer have same day service.

I once left my set of vintage Buffets in a downtown bar, but it wasn't because of any "senior" moment, just "teemanymartoonies".
(Luckly, the bartender kept them safe for me until I could remember where they were--and yes, I learned a lesson)

Hi William: I'm sure that happened a long time ago....in your "wild" years. Please don't destroy the image I have of you!!!!
Henry
P.S. At least they were just Buffets. Imagine they had been Leblancs!!!

That's awesome, Clernibass!
I have a horrible memory. Once again, I feel your pain. I hope we all can learn a lesson from this!

Very Funny! I hope you're joking, as the Buffet mafia could give yall the old "ice pick" over that ; )
I joke. I love LeBlanc also, and their student brand (Vito, yes?) makes nice stuff.
p.s. I'm a youngster yet, and I hope what I'm saying is right, but if it's not then give me a shout so that I may stand corrected!
