I need help in finding out the brand of my clarinet, Please!

Hello all

I am new to this forum so here's a little bit about me. I am 25 years old, married with a 2 year old son. I played in band for 9 years. I sold my two clarinets and dropped out of band. Now I have regretted that; but a friend just recently gave me her husband's clarinet. I have no idea what brand it is. I have looked and looked but have come up with nothing about pantone. there is a serial on it. If anyone can help in my search please respond to this post!

So... how does it play, Bright_Eyes2479? In my personal opinion, if it's good enough to get you started makin' music again it's worth its weight in diamonds :)

Good thot, Ron, it might be a Very valuable horn, but have some doubt! Perhaps Mark C/ GBK can look in Langwill, since a quick search here, even using B and D in place of P antone, yielded nothing. Is it a plastic or wood, [or "silver"], re: metal, ask Jim Lande, he knows of many "stencil" cls as well as better ones. Luck, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

The clarinet is made out of wood. The mouthpiece has some writing on it but I can't understand the fist word. The two words that follow are "rock ebonite". It plays pretty well. But I am sure it needs all new pads and even new corks. It says Made in Italy while the mouth piece has france on it, so I don't know...I am just curious! thanks for your posts

The wood "joints" are the most important, in good shape?, the [possible?] maker's name might be Orsi, Milano, IT, I believe. Mp's come and go, it sounds like yours is a hard rubber [ebonite] , in the US, Conn labelled their mps as "Steel Ebonite", so you may have such. If you feel its worth perhaps $100, ask a repairer to put it into "playing condition" , and have a go at playing again. Its fun for all, young and OLD [like me]. Don

Thanx, Mark, Don

RAMPONE, NOT PANTONE. I think the company still exists. Try search engines.

"Rock ebonite" an interesting name. Reminds me of the "Rock Crystal" Conn mouthpieces which were made for Conn by GG (nee Pomarico). Seems that "rock" would be related by maker or construction or that some link exists.

You caused me to look it up, MW. One of the many varieties of quartz [truly- crystalline SiO2] is known as "rock crystal", so perhaps a bit of "overstating" re:wearability [like our [amorphous] glasses] took place, or got lost in translation from ?Italian? I agree with Rampone, congrats, Davor! Just my thots. Don
