I received my restored Selmer N and Leblanc L200 Clarinets the other day and wow is a understatement! John's work is downright remarkable, the horns are perfect. I'm glad that I had the Silver Plating done along with Black Pads, makes a world of difference of what I had before. The thumb rests were replaced with modern Selmer adjustable, I now have one happy thumb. John also took years of dirt and blemishes and made them disappear, like magic. The keys are now a delight to play, everything is nice and tight, he even refreshed the trademarks. My instructor checked everything out and just like when she approved my playing with Greg Smith's mouthpiece, she smiled! This makes her second smile since I started taking lessons. As soon as possible I'm shipping John my 1937 Selmer Paris BT, I want to see that smile once again. Thank you all for recommending John Butler, you were right!

Hey Ron, Funny you should say that, the woman who tries her best to teach me used to be a model as well as a member of a major orchestra. Afraid John might keep her in Texas!

John has done work for me and the only word to describe it is - superb. I also tried out some of his lovingly restored horns and they were smooth as silk. He is a treasure to this BB and his customers.

About 4-years ago, John restored my Leblanc Model 340 Contrabass to like-new condition. I had the pleasure of visting him at his home to pick it up in person. He is a great guy to know.

John restored a Selmer CT for me about 6 weeks ago. Again, he did an excellent job; I'm very pleased indeed. It's tight, clean, and plays like a dream! He is one of that rare breed that is a craftsman with the soul of an artist. The case had much more mileage on it than the instrument inside. John did an excellent job or re-glueing leather trim that was loose and torn ...... without being asked, and cleaned up the leather aswell.
Many thanks, John!
Joe.

Mr. Ackerman I've been waiting to hear about the completion of your Clarinets, I'm happy all went so well for you! John Butler sounds like the man, great he did all that you expected. I sent a copy of the post to my Dad and when I return from Italy (spending it in music summer school) I'll send my instruments to him as well. See ya all in September,
Bill

I have also had the pleasure of having two of my clarinets overhauled by John Butler.
A 1953 Selmer and a 1954 Leblanc Synphonie. I new they would look great due to the recommendation of other posts here but I am still surprised how effortless they have become to play.
An all-around perfect job.

Hola!
This makes me seem very ignorant (which I am) but, is this Black Pad a manufacturer? Also, do you think that John Butler would take work from Colorado?
Cheers!
