So I bought this mpc that was only described as "glass mouthpiece" on ebay for $5. I just got it. It's an O'brien! (I think it says '62)
Anyway, it's got a little chip on the beak. That can be fixed easily, right?

Dave S fixes chipped crystal mouthpieces. Puts in an epoxy and then sands it down to be flush I believe. Go ahead and contact him. His rates are excellent, as is the quality of his work (satisfied customer right here!)

Congrats. CG, you MAY have a good mp. I've had several of my old O'Briens refaced and one with a chipped table "redone" by my friend in Italy,V G! From what O'B's I've seen, they may be quite large [tenon} bores and work well with large bore barrels and U J's. If you send it to Dave S [a dern good idea] , discuss with him what you would like to achieve, its a combo of experience and research. Much luck, Don

It also came with a Boosey and Hawks ligature. Are those worth anything to anyone?

Is the B&H Ligature a bit older? If so, it is made of a (desirable) soft-metal with ligature screws that actually can be tightened, rather than just "seizing up".
OTTOMH, I'd suppose that the B&H Lig is worth $10-15. Replated with gold or silver, a bit more.

Well this one is silver plated, but it has turned black with age. I think I can get some silver polish and bring it back. hehe. I can tell it's the B & H cuz... it has a big B and a big H built into the lig. hehe. That and it says "made in england" on the back. I just assumed.

Yes, they are hard to miss - very nice BOXY letters - fairly thick metal at back side. I use a special jeweller's cleaning (disposable) cloth (from J L Smith) & follow up with a Selmer Polishing (yellow) Cloth for plated metal. Cleans up all the tarnish etc. Easy does it with anything that will seriously mar the plating. Your ligature may be silverplated & it also may be another plating, like nickel. Most of the B&H's I see are nickel (or a variation).
