Does anyone know where I can download Concertino by weber? I'm working on it right now and it would really help if I had a copy of the song.

Don't know about downloading it, but there are lots of good recordings out there to buy. Check all the usual websites, you're sure to find quite a few (or even a local record store with a decent classical offering, e.g. Tower)

Back before mp3.com was taken down and redone, LA Philharmonic principal Michelle Zukovsky had a nice recording of it up with Zubin Mehta guest conducting the orchestra. However, I doubt if there's any more free recordings of it still left on the web.

Your best bet is just to purchase a CD. The common consensus is that John Mannase's is the best available. Also, I believe Naxos has released a disc of Weber works that include it. Another inexpensive one is with Walter Boeykens and James Conlon (one of my favorite conductors) leading the Rotterdam Philharmonic. The two concertos as well as the Grand Duo Concerto (with Paul Meyer, but a sloppy and bit fast rendition, one of his earlier recordings) are featured on the disc as well.

You can stream it from:

http://www.naxos.com/naxos/naxos_marco_polo.htm

From their menu on the home page, click "Search our catalog"

When the search form comes up, enter "concertino" (without the quotes) in the composition field and "weber" (without the quotes) in the composer field.

You will have to register to play the piece, but it's free and gives you access to a tremendous amount of online listening material.

Best regards,
jnk

you may be able to download it from the music store with the iTunes program (though at apple program, it's available for windows too, for free). It'll cost $.99 though, and you'll need a credit card.

I just checked and couldn't find it, but this is still a decent play to look for songs that aren't too obscure - they have Weber concertos, mozart, and a few other things ...

Good Luck,

Jeff,
If you send a reminder to coasten1@comcast.net, I can send you a midi file of the piano part that you can play along with.

Igloo Bob, I find the naxos recording very slow also. You should listen sabine meyer´s version. I think the tempis are taken much better in that recording. In that naxos recording especially the middle section is taken way too slow! IMO Ottensamer plays the piece really phlegmatic, however the sound he makes is quite nice.

Igloo Bob, that was the recording I was suggesting I had to give to the author of this original post, actually. It's very good and well-played. Mark Charette, sorry I couldn't clarify what I meant when I said I had a recording for him, it was this one from that above website. I should have just posted it the website as Igloo Bob did to avoid getting my post deleted. ::holds head in shame:: Alas...
