Author: brian

Is anyone familiar with a Yamaha model 72CX? I'm considering purchasing a used A with this particular model number but can't find it listed on the Yamaha website. The seller indicates its about seven years old. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Used to be one of the top models, equivalent to today's CS.

I have a Bb 72. It is from the era before the current designations of CX SX or whatever they are using. My 72 is an awesome instrument. It is not as free blowing as its R-13 counter but that is what I desired in the instrument. The best thing to do is play test the instrument if at all possible. The ups of the Yamaha instruments I have found are exceptional intonation and wonderful keywork. However, some complain of tarnish to the keyplating as a cosmetic problem. These instruments produce a wonderful dark and warm sound. Give it a try and see what you think...
