 Clarinetfest questions
Author: claclaws

As first-time visitor of that site (clarinetfest.org), I was totally amazed by the program. But I have some questions:

1. Is there a fee to pay? (like an entrance fee?.. or to attend any of the master classes?)
2. Is this purely for clarinet majors/professionals?
3. "clarinet choirs for you to play in" was on the introduction page. How can it happen? You just walk in and play?

Any way, what a wonderful opportunity for clarinet players who live in the States. Happy clarinetfesting!

Entrance fee + you have to be a member of the I.C.A. The fees are in the application form.

Nooooo! I go every opportunity I can. It's a place to see what the vendors have, socialize, go to classes, and listen to more clarinet music than you thought was ever written!

You sign up, they send you the music in advance, then you get together at the 'Fest and practice with others. Then you play on the last day.

It gets people from around the world, and it's a rotation system - 2 years USA, 1 year outside the USA. Next year the 'Fest is in Tokyo.

Lucy,
FYI, you can get your ICA membership and pay the entrance fee for ClarinetFest "at the door".

When does the music for the clarinet choirs come? I registered a while ago and just assumed we'd get the music there. I'm really glad we get to see it beforehand!

I read on here months ago that people who post on here can wear nametags to find each other. How does that work?

Usually you do; contact the choir coordinator for full info.

I normally put them together; I'll post here with full info later.

I believe Mark said that there will be a booth near the entrance to ClarinetFest and that you can sign in there and get your nametag.

Nope, didn't say that (at least this year).

I thought that was how it worked last year. I didn't know it wasn't going to be the same this year. Oh well.
