 Very old Buffet bass clarinet
Author: Signe

I'm trying to find information about a clarinet that was given to me all in pieces. I got it fixed, and it has the finest tone quality ever. The serial # is 801. It has Albert fingering. It's keyed almost in C. I want to know the value of it, for possible sale. There is a make-shift thumb-rest, and no case. Thanks!

It sounds like it might be a high pitch instrument. Not of much use for playing in a group.

We discussed this instrument at some length on the Sunday Chat. Guessing that the very low serial number means turn of the century or earlier and based on her description of the tuning, the odds seem very strong that it is indeed a high pitch instrument. She also told us that it has the Albert key system.
