I found a crack
Author: Leigh
Date: 1999-12-19 18:50

Hey everyone,

I just found a crack on My clarinet. Its about 1/2 inch long on each side of the tone hole (probably a little shorter) and its Not too deep, but still its a crack.

I have a few questions...

Can this be fixed?
Will it be it very expensive to repair?
What should i do in the meantime, before i bring it to the repairshop? Should i stop playing it?

Leigh,
The answer you got on Klarinet was perfect:
1) It can probably be fixed
2) The price is hard to tell - it depends on how many/where the pins nneed to go
3) Stop playing it and leave the cracked piece outside the case to dry.
4) Bring it to a competent repairperson

Where do I find this? Is this also a regular bulletin board?
After a quick search, I found the following page, without any further links. I could send a question by e-mail, but perhaps other Clarinet BB-visitors also didnīt know where to look. Hereīs the message I found:

KLARINET is an unmoderated discussion group for clarinettists.
Anyone is welcome to join. All issues related to clarinet playing, teaching,
history, recordings, equipment, etc. are discussed and members of this
group represent a wide variety of interests from around the world.

To subscribe to KLARINET, send a blank e-mail message to:
klarinet-subscribe@sneezy.org

Once subscribed, messages to be posted to KLARINET should be sent to:
klarinet@sneezy.org

If you are not able to connect to KLARINET, check with your Internet
supplier (school, work, commercial or freenet supplier).

List owners are Jim Fay and Cap Bromley. Mark Charette is the server and
system administrator. They can be contacted at:
klarinet-owner@sneezy.org

Hi.
The description of the Klarinet mailing list is on the menu - just select Klarinet List! If you want to search the Klarinet archives (about 65000 posting of the last 7 years), choose Klarinet Archives.

Please, explore Sneezy! There's lots more here than just the BBoard!

I still haven't got the hang of this bulletin board. Did you get any good answers? If so, please e-mail me. I've had a small crack for years, but it hasn't affected anything. Thanks. Signe
