Recital?..dunno much about that one.....what's its feature?
As for the Festival.....i haven't heard much about that either.....
edit: just looked up the Festival...seems pretty good.....but what are Tenon rings?

Concerto II is not strictly a "jazz" horn -- it's an acoustical twin of the Opus II, a good symphonic horn. Eddie Daniels, though, does play the Concerto II, so it's versatile.
The Selmer Recital is a small bore, thick-walled clarinet. Said to be very heavy and capable of producing a very focused tone.
Tenon rings are the metal thingies that go on the end of the tenons of some horns. Tenons are the ends of the joints that slide into sockets. An upper joint has tenons on both ends, while the lower joint has a socket on one end and a tenon on the other.
You'll have to compare the Concerto and the Prestige yourself to see what you prefer

These questions should be banned. They get the same old responses. If you want to know which is better... go to a music store and play them for yourselves... asking the the buffet vs. leblanc question will get you no where.

Those who don't want to read a thread (especially the kind that the explicit title of this thread describe) should just move on to a thread that might interest them. The Concerto II is definetly a better value going off of the prices. I'd say both are good instruments, and depending on the particular one you try I bet a player could like one just as easily as the other. The Buffet is well.......a nice Buffet- something many look for. The Leblanc tends to have better intonation and has the new key design- if that's what you're looking for.
Bottom line- "go to a music store and play them for yourselves" is the best, and probably only objective advice anyone here can give you.

Mark C you close the threads YOU want to close, sometimes creating your own rules, as I've witnessed several times. The reason you gave me for closing one in particular was not listed in this website's rules, you just made it up. It was a perfectly good discussion about an issue that was important to me and I very much wished to discuss it.
Moving along, I agree LeOpus, just try a few horns and that will tell you which is best.

That is absolutely correct, and will remain so. As I said above, the tone is set by the two of us, and the listed rules set the general case. not the specific, or they'd end up looking like the US Tax Code and would have just as many loopholes (and would be ignored just as often).
People who don't like what they feel are arbitrary decisions are still welcome to post. Discussions of those decisions can be done with me or GBK in private.

As Mark has previously said, every posting is read by the two of us and many of the decisions that are ultimately made are done behind the scenes. Synonymous I'm no NOOB, I've been posting here at least 2 or 3 years now, not under the same name though. I might be considered relitively new since I know many have been posting A LOT longer than 2 years!
On with the topic...
Can the Concerto II really be compared to the Prestige? I mean, different bores, key design, designed at different times by different people in different places - they're just DIFFERENT INSTRUMENTS. Every individual has the ability to determine which is better for themselves.
