Is there a flute forum out there as good as this? I've looked but haven't found any that look good. I found one and posted a question, but there has been no response since I posted it about six days ago.
I just started the flute Monday the 10th, and am really enjoying it (and no, I certainly haven't lost interest in the clarinet). I've been pretty much practicing all day every day, and can do all scales with proper fingering at a tempo of about 250 or faster up to high G, get over the break pretty easily, read music, and play up to G loudly or quietly with a clear tone with no lower octave showing through. I'm still having a lot of trouble playing low C-Eb. It's a blast, and it's not confusing me when I play the clarinet, although after a long time of playing the flute the clarinet mouthpiece does feel a little odd for about 30 seconds.
How many people here play the flute? Maybe I could just use this forum.

Only for the occasional flute question. If there were enough people interested I'd be happy to start a flute forum as I did for the oboe players.

I recently got kicked out of the Larry Krantz forum.
This was seemingly for asking pertinent questions and exposing truths, that possibly hurt the marketing image hype of at least one marketer probably associated, either socially or in business, with key figure(s) associated with the forum.
If questing for, and presentation of truth is eliminated from above-mentioned forum, it is no wonder that it has been so 'uniform' and 'sterile'.
Another possibility is
http://www.flute.com/messageboard_2002.htm
But it is unregulated (which can add to the off-topic fun aspect in it) and sometimes gets temproarily out of control when trolls visit. It is a very old format, so if you want to paragraph you need to do so with HTML code, which everbody soon gets used to.

Mark,
How about "building it" to see if "they will come"?
Or is it a question of funds and server space and other things I don't know about?

It's more of "who will advertise & manage it? ..." It takes some time to build the BBoard (not a whole lot) and time to tear it down if no one comes, and a lot of effort by a/some forum moderator(s). Just ask GBK & myself about the amount of time it takes to keep things humming ...
