 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition
Author: thechosenone

Just curious, has anyone ever attended this competition before? My chamber group will be competing in the junior division this year, playing the Poulenc Sextet.

As a wind ensemble competing against string groups in the same category, it is extremely difficult. However, there was a group in 2002 from CYSO playing the Poulenc that earned 3rd place.

Just curious, offhand, if you have attended the competition, what did you play, how did it go, any insights?

Thanks!

Hi -

I played in a quintet at that same festival, we made it to semi's playing Hindemith and Taffenel. Having the piano is a definate edge as far as compeating as a wind group.

We were the CYSO Wind Quintet and I know the members of that old sextet pretty well. They were a fantastic group
