does anyone have an opinion about the Sabine MT9000 Tuner Metronome? It seems like a good tuner and is at a good price, 29.99, at WWBW. Is it worth it?

The ability to play the clarinet is the ability to overcome the imperfections of the instrument. There's no such thing as a perfect clarinet, never was and never will be.

It works great as a metronome.
BEWARE:
The tuner takes a while to show where it is at. It seems like it is not a great tuner if there are many people around because the mic is a little slow and picks up side sounds.
The other problem I noticed was it wasn't as loud as I wanted it to be. (It is nice to have the volume button it has.)
Honestly it is the best Metronome/tuner they have out there. And you can't beat the price.
I personally like having 2 different machines so that I can tune with the metronome sometimes. But I think I am just weird.

Many inexpensive tuners seem to pickup a lot of overtones (especially from strings) and background noises. If it becomes annoying and/or if you use it a lot outside the studio or practice room, the addition of a clip-on pickup mic can help. As bkmorton said, you can't beat the price.

i have that one and it's not like that at all. actually if something is not close enough it doesn't catch it, but it will catch your sound. it responds unbelievably fast in my opinion too. there is another metronom (not sure which one though) that also has subdivisions, and cost about the same if i'm not mistaking. if you only play the regular things (classical music, jazz standards) then you don't need it and the sabine would be good for you.
p.s. i persoanlly think it's better to practice without a metronom and to tune without a tuner.

I recently bought this one (going by what several posters on this board have said about it) and I do find it a useful tool (I can't really compare it as it's the only one I've ever used). With bkmorton I agree that the tuner is a little difficult to understand (why does it say you're in tune and then swings into the sharp/flat zone when you stop the sound?). Overall, I'd say it's a very good deal and so convenient to have around.
