The orchestra has a new introductory page because of the European tour. It's still at http://philorch.org. There's a cool sound clip that's on the page, but I can't seem to recognize the piece at all. Sounds pretty modern to me, but maybe someone here knows what it is? I'd love to get my hands on a recording of that piece.

It is indeed the Shostakovich Tenth, one of my personal favorite orchestral works and one of the most powerful orchestral works from the 2nd half of the 20th century.

The first movement is a long brooding piece of music, full of clarinet passages with quotes from Mahler's 2nd.

The second movement is the clip on that page. It is 4 short minutes of terror, and is believed to be Shostakovich's personal summary on the reign of Stalin who had just pased away recently.
