on this note, I wonder how many other would-have-been clarinetists are out there is the professional world? It would interesting to know.

John Williams played clarinet? You wouldn't know it from the crappy bass clarinet parts he writes into his compositions.......

So the direction of the markets could have been determined by which clarinet case Greenspan was carrying instead of how fat his briefcase is?
Alyson Hannigan, huh? That reminds me of a story -- Once, when I was in band camp....

WRT John Williams (hi Dave, remember me, I bought the Malerne last year?), my band just played "Cowboys" by John Williams, which has the most horrible bass part I've ever seen. I forget who the arranger was, but I was wondering whether it was the arranger's fault rather than John Williams' fault. Anybody know?

I heard Linden (Barney Miller on TV) on radio ...did rondo from Mozart concerto as part of a pops orch gig ...did it on an A clar and it was quite respectable given that he is not a concerizing clarinetist in his day job.
One wonders what would have happened if Clinton had a clarinet case in the oval office instead of a humidor.

Maybe that is how Greenspan started predicting the Markets highs and lows. Julie Roberts? Excuse me while I go practice.

I always thought John Williams is like other composers most noted for their film scores...in that he has teams of 'orchestrators' to flesh out the bones of his more famous film works.
Surely this means his orchestration isn't actually up to much?
Oh god, I think I'm in trouble now! Have it on good authority that this is true, but I've never read it anywhere!!

If you've got Dierdre Hall, you should put the guy who plays Stefano DiMera on Days of Our Lives on there too...Joseph Mascolo...I believe he actually played professionally for a time...

You are welcomed to it.
Those are the "celebrities" that I know once played (or still play) clarinet. Of course there may be more.
I think that I heard (or read) that both Danny Kaye (actor) and Jennifer Garner (actress) also played clarinet, but I've never been able to substantiate either one.
If you find others, please add them to the list and let us know...GBK

Adam Sandler plays one mean clarinet in Billy Madison. I'm pretty sure it's really him. :P

I don't know about that . . . sounds too good to be Adam Sandler. I'm pretty sure he was just synching to a professional in the background . . .
