Sonatine, Milhaud
Sonata No. 1, Brahms
Tema con Variazioni, Francaix
Concert Piece No. 1, Mendelssohn (with a basset horn, of course!)

My dream recital:
The perfect Vandoren reed on my mouthpiece. An incredible pianist and one of my best friends sitting at the Steinway grand behind me. An audience of about 70 in front of me. And 2 hours worth of music from the core of clarinet repertoire.
THE PROGRAM
1. Claude Debussy - Premiere Rhapsody
The ever-so-intimate 3 opening notes on the piano, followed by a mysterious entrance by the clarinet. A deeply felt lyrical masterpiece. The audience should be easily seduced by it's loveliness. What an incredible opening piece.
2. Robert Schumann - Fantasy Pieces, Op. 73
Short, warm, pieces full of wit but with delicacy. Fun and accessible for
both performer and listener, it's a perfect little prelude to the more serious pieces up ahead.
3. Johannes Brahms - Sonata No. 1, Op. 120
Perhaps no music in the entire chamber repertoire of clarinet literature
is as beautiful as this one. Produced by a mature Brahms at the very
end of his life, this is an overall personal, melancholy work and according to Claude Rostand, "like the pages of a private diary". The center and main
number of the program.
INTERMISSION
4. Andre Messager - Solo de Concours
Nothing like a short, virtuoso piece to kick of the second half, a half with numbers that are more of a fast and lively nature.
5. Carl Maria von Weber - Grand Duo Concertante
Give the pianist his little moment too. A wonderful, fun, enjoyable duet. One of my personal favorites to play.
6. Francis Poulenc - Sonata
What I feel is the greatest clarinet solo of the 20th century, the charm of the late Poulenc is evidant. An ambitious piece, it contains a bit of everything from lyrical elegance, to virtuostic showoff, to humorous entertainment.

Arthur Benjamin - Jamaican Rhumble
Camille Saint Saens - Sonata, Opus 167: "II. Allegro animato"
