Has anyone played one of these? Apparently they're equipped with the automatic double register key that is usually only found on expensive pro model basses. It's unheard of for a bass in the $1,000 range to have the automatic double register key. Sounds almost too good to be true. But if it is true it could be a nice playing bass. A decent playing bass for $1,000? What a concept.

I've bought, restored, sold and played plenty of Kohlert-Winnenden bass clarinets that cost way less than a grand and all have the DRK --- but then again they're used and 40 years old (mere details....). But yeah, for a new instrument, the Ridenour could be a great deal if it plays reasonably well. Who sells them?
By the way, at one time Alastair Hanson was going to market an inexpensive bass clarinet --- what happened to that project?

The only place I know of that carries them is Brook Mays which I believe is in Dallas, Texas. They might be worth looking into. Ridenhour's soprano clarinets have gotten some favorable reviews.

Yep, there's the Ridenour bass clarinet on the Brook Mays website, double register mechanism, just over $1000 US brand new........sure would like to try one out.........
