Pretty neat. It would be fun to go to one of these contests.

This morning, on our local classical station, they interviewed a local professional whistler who had just won the "pops" category of the international whistlers' convention contest and come in third or so in the 'classical' division. He whistled a few excerpts from his concours pieces --- for the classical entry he did what was reputedly the slow movement of Rach's 2nd Piano Concerto.
It was horrible.

One of the best whistlers that I ever ever heard is Jazz clarinetist Brad Terry. I have to admit, I was doubtful. When I heard him, I was amazed. He does it beautifully. He solos with great skill, great inflection, intonation, etc. It is as valid as Louis Armstrong scatting.

About 10 years ago I was lucky enough to play a few summer gigs with Toots Thielemans. It was an experience I'll never forget.
A consummate pro in every sense of the word...GBK
