of playing the clarinet. Blew the bluesiest version of Gershwin's "Summertime" on the beach last week (carefull of the sand!) and will solo Pomp and Circumstance in three weeks at my wife's and stepdaughter's graduation party. My instructor taught music in the NYS prison system for 30+ years and there he learned the blues. Hope he lives and teaches long enough to transfer some of his music to me. Although I realize that timing is important to playing with others, my next phase, I still think the metronome is the devil. Love reading this board.
Peace

I think the metronome is the devil too. I have been forcing myself into using it and it's still bad but almost getting there.
Have fun in your performances!!!

Don't need a metronmome if you play whilst riding a mule.
Now if someone is riding your ass, it's another story.

My metronome always speeds up when I get to the difficult part of the music. I don't know how it always knows.
