 difficulty of music

I do not feel that the difficulty of music matters. A professional musician can be playing the Stamitz No. 3 Concerto very well and make it sound difficult. All judges want to hear is something to your ability and not something terribly hard. I am a sophomore at college and I look at the Poulenc Sonata and think that it is too difficult for me. I have played Brahms, Weber's 1st Concertino, and am working on the Saint-Saens Sonata. I highly recommend Weber's 1st Concertino because it is fun and not too easy. I would go with what you think is best for you. But remember that judges listen for musicality, technique, dynamics, and rhythm; not difficulty of the piece.

I really think real difficult pieces are Bach partitas arranged from cello or violin alone. Other pieces are pieces of cake.Play them like Henrick Shelling. They are Rolles Royce of music. Stamiz pieces are Chevloret.

Or, you can spend about 1/3 for the Voxman Classical Studies, and get a lot more music for the $$. That book has the Bach Partitas, and a whole lot more. $8 Rubank/Hal Leonard Publisher.

To my knowledge, Weber only wrote 1 Concertino. Perhaps you mean 1st Concerto. :-)
