 Selmer 10SII

I went looking for a Selmer 10SII last weekend to a shop in London that had been highly recommended as having one of the largest stocks around. When I got there I was told that they didn't have and of the 10SII clarinets as Selmer had stopped making them and that they had been replaced/matched by the Artys. Is this true? I had my heart set on the 10SII and am really disappointed to hear that they re no longer made. Has anyone else heard this story? What truth is there behind it?

Thanks
Tilly

Yes, Selmer has discontinued the 10S for a few years or so.
The Selmer model line on the moment: Signature, Artys, Odyssee.
The Artys is a completely new instrument and does not "match" the 10SII exactly.

If you really want a 10SII try to find a dealer that still has one in stock or try to find a used one. There must be a lot of these instruments available.

Matilda - you didn't say which shop you tried, but Howarth still list the 10SII as well as the Artys:

http://www.howarth.uk.com/newinsts.aspx?l1=810&mop=2.

I have no idea whether they actually have them in stock.

If there are so many people on this board unwilling or unable to have a civil and balanced discussion about important issues, then I shan't bother to post here any more.

To the great relief of many of you, no doubt.

It was infact Howarth that I tried. Although they are still listing the instrument they no longer have it in stock and told me that they were not going to.

I will probably opt for either the Artys or the Buffet R13 but it would have been nice to have the option of a 10SII

If anyone knows of any places that definately have the 10SII in stock then I would be interested to know. I have also tried John Packer, Dawkes and Trevor Jones but without sucess.

Also, when exactly was it that Selmer stopped production of the 10SII?

Cheers
Matilda

On this site they still list a 10SII so I guess the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing...... http://www.selmer.com/woodwind/pariscl/pariscl.html
