 Books on clarinet
Author: Dana

I have to write a paper comparing the styles of clarinet writing in Berlioz Symphony Fantastique, Brahms Symphony No.3 and Strauss Till Eulenspiegel.

Do you recommend any good books?

How about books on the technical improvement made to clarinet in the 19th Century?

Thank you all for your help.

Dana

A good place to start is by looking at the bibliography list on the woodwind.org site:

http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/Resources/Bibliography.html

Many of the standard texts (Brymer, Kroll, Lawson, Rendall) are listed...GBK

V G advice from GBK. I should think that Groves Dictionary, Lawson and Brymer, in particular, would be very helpful re: the music, and your instrumental info, and would like to add Albert Rice's new book "The Clarinet in The Classical Period", comprehensive, detailed, lengthy! to your research. Much luck, Don

Thanx, Mark, Don
