What is meant when someone talks about a college's orchestra? On Walter Grabner's site, his bio says that he played alongside with David Shifrin at some college's orchestra. Also, on a website that I've seen across here now and then, one of our members apparently studied (or studies) with the principle of the Rutger's Orchestra. Are these orchestras with positions filled by college students? Or does a college's orchestra consist of faculty and other community or professional players?

As I recall, Walter played along side David Schifrin in the Toledo Symphony many years ago when Walter was in the TOL area and Schifrin was on the faculty at U. of Michigan.

I'm sorry. Perhaps that's what the BIO said and I didn't read it carefully enough. But I know the one person was taking lessons from the principle of the Rutgers Orchestra. So the question still remains. Was that a student that was principle or a community/faculty member?
