Need information about Buffet Crampon Clarinet bearing model (?) NB, SN 569. Instrument has detachable barrel and bell but a one-piece body. Also has low Eb key on right cluster and alternate G# key on left cluster as well as an unknown trill keu for RH third finger. In addition to usual Buffet crest and markings has "H. Bettony, Boston, Mass." Is this the importer? How old is this instrument? What is a ball-park value for the instrument when overhauled? Will appreciate any information.

It sounds to me as if you have a "Full Boehm" [20 keys/7 rings cl made by Buffet and imported and marketed [as a stencil clar?] by Harry Bettoney, a Boston cl maker in his own right of 1920 - 50's vintage. I have 2 old F-B's myself and wouldnt part with either for under some $400. Will help more if you wish, need to post re: Unusual Conn Clar. Don

Key point on value: high pitch or low pitch? Yes, even in 1930 some georgous full boehm absolutely pro quality HIGH PITCH instruments were being imported. These have very little value. Whoever does the work will know by taking measurements BEFORE you invest in an overhaul.
Several have gone on eBay for between $300 and $400, and those needed overhauls.

Dear Jim. TX for info. I have finished the overhaul and the horn plays from 10 to 15 cents sharp on most every note according to a Conn Strobotuner. It responds beautifully and I think it will be quite usable.
