I'm thinking about buying my own Bass Clarinet this summer. What kind of good Bass Clarinets are on the cheaper end of the spectrum? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regarding the best of the cheapest bass clarinets, the Bundy Resonite low Eb is about as good as it gets.

Ditto, what William said, Iacuras. I did not try lots of horns beforehand but, since Bundy regular Bb horns are pretty good student instruments, I figured I couldn't go too far wrong with a Bundy bass with low Eb (an eBay purchase). I looked at other brands but this one was available in my price range at the time and looked okay. It needed only minor attention to the double register key mechanism when it arrived. It has been tootin' well going on a couple of years now. This very serviceable workhorse, under $300 [USDs], does everything I need it to do...

I'm going to weigh in on the side of the Vitos, from Leblanc. Theye really seem to have their act together in producing a good solid repairable student bass clarinet.
I like the model that has the low Eb on the body, not the bell.

Check out Ebay! I'm addicted... anyway, you may be able to find a Bundy or something for a pretty good price.

IMHO, after trying the above suggestions re: the better "student model" B C's, [Vito. Bundy, Amati?, restored/used plastics and woods]], IF you find some difficulty in making the mid-staff B, C, C#,D. D# "speak", "crossing the "break" [up from G/A], at least try other BC,s or/and try a BC with the Double Register Keying. It is usually distinguished by a key on the Neck [or an additional vent-key up high on the body] and the linkage to operate it to see if it's higher cost will be worth it to your facility.
