Can someone tell what clarinets are in this orchestra, are the Bohem or German systems? Because i'm thinking of applying for the principle job there.

Yes, I also thought that Boehms were always wide-spread there. But then, I've been out of the Netherlands for soooo long. I'll be visiting in May and I'll try to find out. (I'll be mostly in Eindhoven, i.e., in the province Noord Brabant where the Brabants Orkest has its base.)

I thought several Dutch orchestras (including the Netherlands Wind Ensemble) used Reform-Boehm clarinets. Can anyone back this up?

Certainly the players in the Concertgebouw and the Netherlands Wind Ensemble play Reform Boehm clarinets -- Boehm fingering, compromise bore, slightly smaller than German, larger than French. I think RB is nearly universal there.

I worked in the Brabants Orkest in Eindhoven for a year. They are the only orchestra in the Netherlands that play on French Boehm clarinets. All of the other professional orchestras in the Netherlands use Refrom-Boehm clarinets.
Interestingly, the recent auditions for the Concertgebouw positions (principal, and 2nd with Eb) allowed for both Reform-Boehm and German system.

I wrote: "All of the other professional orchestras in the Netherlands use Refrom-Boehm clarinets"
But that's only as far as I know. Peter- why don't you write to the orchestra and ask them? Maybe they aren't so pig-headed about the system?!

Good point, Liquorice! The Dutch tend to be quite tolerant. Anyway, although you probably know this already, Peter, here is the e-mail address to direct a question like that to: m.mandos@noordnederlandsorkest.nl
By the way, The Noord Nederlands Orkest operates mainly in the three northernmost Dutch provinces: Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe. It has to be distinguished from the Noord Holland Orkest, which operates from the province of Noord Holland. FWIW.

By coincidence I know the current principle of the orkest. He plays reform-boehm. I don't know about the 2nd but it seems almost certain he/she plays RB too.
By the way this guy (his name is Arno Stoffelsma) will leave this orchestra this summer to become principle in the Concertgebouw orkest. He is only in his early twenties!
