I'm lookin for a strategy to make a couple bucks while I'm still in college.
I just bought the Doctor's student kit, which came with all kinds of good stuff! So I'm thinking of maybe making little kits like that to sell on ebay, obviously it wouldn't be as cool as the Doc's with the specialized products. But I may have enough skill to make silk swabs and maybe polishing clothes from soft flannel material. Throw in some cheapo cork grease and other fun little things, and it could be a good little kit. I wouldn't charge a whole lot, but if I can make some decent stuff, it might be a couple dollars of profit.
What do you think? Any advice?

I don't mind the "fun little things" (Sounds intriguing! What do you have in mind exactly?) but I must object to the "cheapo cork grease".

Cork grease is cork grease unless you go to a music store where it costs a little more than $2.

Well... when I say "cheapo," I mean the good 'ol Premium cork grease. :P
Fun things could be like a reed case, key dusting brush, etc... Maybe I could use some more ideas on the fun things! hehe
I also saw ppl making oboe reed cases out of things like Altoid tins, so if I could find out how to make the actual reed holder, I could do that too.
I am a crafty type person. I guess I got it from my mom. Always getting into something. It will be fun!

Throw in some good jeweler screw drivers. Many people don't have them for their clarinets and I know most people needing/wanting a 'kit' would probably want one of those in their case too (or if not want will eventually need). A silk mouthpiece pouch perhaps, a reed holder (once again always good to have for a starter - could be LaVoz or something - I'm sure if you order a gross or so you should get a decent discount).

Yamaha (and probably others) currently makes a clarinet maintenance kit.
Theirs sells for $17.99, but is given away free on purchases over $199.

The retail cost of the individual items is probably well under $10
I wouldn't recommend giving this kit to students as the wire handled brush included to clean the mouthpiece is an accident waiting to happen, and the thought of pipe cleaners being inserted into tone holes (and under the existing pads) gives me chills ...GBK
