 gonzalez and beginner study feedback

Has anybody here had any long-term experience playing on gonzalez reeds? Can ya guys & gals give me some feedback?

Also, can someone give me a guidance as revision on standard clarinet pedagogy? At least i mean something like 'how to start playing the clarinet?'
and of course the usual embouchure talk, posture, air support, repertoire etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I will need the info ASAP. Thankyou so much!

Plenty of information on Gonzalez reeds has been seen previously on the board. Click on SEARCH just under the head of this page, enter GONZALEZ, and you'll see it all.

As to playing the Clarinet, there is enough information to fill several books. So, not surprisingly, there are several books on the subject. My suggestion is that you get one. One that is both good and inexpensive is _The Clarinet and Clarinet Playing_ by David Pino. It is available from Van Cott Information Services (a sponsor of this Bulletin Board -- click on "Music and Books" on the right of this page to find a link) for $8.95 olus the usual.

Of course, there is truly no substitute for a good teacher.

Regards,
John

I second John's suggestion about the recommended book. That, in combination with a good teacher, will get you started well. The advantage of reading this and other books about clarinets is that you'll be getting more information than a teacher ever could give you, and you'll be an active participant in your own education.

This BB is another wonderful source of information. Take some time to read past threads - do some searches, and you'll find a world of information here.

ACTUALLY i am not a beginner myself tutors some beginners on a regular annual basis every year in the high school band. I would like to be reminded of things which are all too common to happen like bad habits etc.
And of course of things that are all well too commonly forgotten. THANKS.

Gonzalez FOF reeds now come in two varieties: the new "Regular Cut" (thin blank) as well as in the original thick blank style. Both reeds use the exact same cane.

The last discussion was here:

The "Regular Cut" reeds are a viable alternative to the Vandoren Traditional Blue Box reeds ...GBK
