Hi! I'll be in Philadelphia for the summer working in a lab, and I want to find a couple music opportunities to get involved in during my time there. I'm a college student who has played clarinet for 11 years and is at a fairly advanced level.
Are there any groups/ensembles/orchestras that i could join in the philly area that are active during the summer?? Also, any recommendations for a private teacher for the summer (who doesn't charge ridiculous fees...)
Thanks =)

ridiculous fees? Pay peanuts get taught by a monkey ... pay gold get an "outside-the-square" experience.

One word summarizes all musical positions in Philadelphia: Curtis. Curtis students and graduates are all over the place (for a small school, they seem to be everywhere). If you have any connections there it would be a good place to start. The Philadelphia Orchestra only plays at the Mann center for part of the summer- they spend a month in Saratoga, NY.
I'm a student at Swarthmore, which is just outside of Philly, but I'm only here during the school year and mostly perform at school. Sorry I can't offer you any more specific information! My teacher is from north of Philly and doesn't teach in the city itself.

Heeey... Clarinetfest is a couple hours south! Take a trip to DC close to the end of July for a couple days, and spend some time with us! Price is only semi-ridiculous. :-P
