Hello,
I'm a second year clarinet student at a music conservatoire in northern England. I'm playing a Paul Douglas piece - "Lignon", for an examined performance. The problem is I need information about the work for a short presentation but i can't find information anywhere.
Can anybody help me, to find information on "Lignon", as I'm getting quite desperate.

Hi Jen,
I've played this piece a couple of times, and unfortunately I can't find out much either. My teacher and I guessed that the tile may have been a woman's name. Other titles that he's written (listed on the back if we have the same copy) include Jabora, and the others escape my memory, but quite a few sound like they may be names. The piece may reflect the aftermath of an argument!
If you do a search of everything related to this website, it reveals that there is a recording of it by Arthur Campbell

I'm considering sending for a cd, but that will involve a bit of hassle with getting money changed into dollars. Would be worth it though. Where are you studying by the way? Royal Northern? I'm studying at the Royal Welsh College and I know a few people at the Royal Northern.

Do you need to give external information about the piece, i.e. composer bio, date of composition, etc.? Perhaps instead you could offer an analysis of the piece based on your thoughts. That might impress the examiners more than just factual information.
